After 3 years since the first breakthrough XPR installation, ISOBARIX growing number of installation due to its affordabiity, footprint and advanced performance, leaves customers with an easy choice.
An early installation in the fall of 2013 at the resort Oasis Sent in Cancun, Mexico where a market leading 200 lbs PX-180 device was replaced with a 30 lbs XPR-509SL device, illustrates very well this point.
Generally speaking, manufacturing cost is somewhat proportional to weight and ISOBARIX wants to share that XPR technology advantage with its customers while providing substantial operational cost savings as well.
The simplicity of a single moving part made of ceramics, has prooved to be the factor securing uninterupted operation and no maintenance year after year since its introduction 17 years ago. No other type of ERD can show a similar life-cycle cost benefit. The endusers and public in general demand sustainable and efficient solutions for basic commodities such as water and energy. By employing materials that do not degrade over time and advanced engineering priniciples, Isobarix proprietary XPR concept represents a new milestone in the history of commercial ERD technology.
A quick comparison with market leading sleeve based technology, shows that our axle based XPR device has dramatic
reduced number of static seals that could cause minute leakage of brine or seawater, resulting in potential for corrosion of major structural elements after only 5 years of service in moderate salinity, see PX-180 aluminium bearing plate below from Cancun.
Our XPR device employes a split pressure vessel with integrated porting made of Titanium G2 with only one external seal and all other parts made of high grade alumina ceramic. Just like ceramics, it will not degrade over the life of the SWRO plant.
Efficiency and flow capacity is of course a major concern for SWRO manufactures who wants to be competetive. Our XPR units has consistently demonstrated 1-2% higher overall efficiency, half the lubrication flow and vast reduced mixing.
